- Examine factors involved in a good diet
- Reasons for recommended daily 5 portions of fruit and vegetables
- Role of antioxidants
- Acid/alkaline foods
- Nutrition to overcome stress
- Anti-nutrients
- Examine the effects of caffeine, soya and aspartame
- Common allergens.
- Obtain clarification on differing views on nutrition
- Identify factors involved in gaining a healthy diet
- Identify benefits/negative effects of a variety of foods
- Gain an insight into the use of supplements.
The course is at an introductory level. You should be able to write lists, locate information using handouts, books, and the internet, listen and identify main points and participate in group discussions.
Through discussion, talk by tutor and group work. You will receive handouts on a variety of subjects and a reading list for further study.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
