This course really made me think about my writing. I have been able to get a proper assessment of my work both from others and from listening to feedback received by other people. I now feel able, at least more able, to properly assess my own writing. The tutor is very good at helping you to see what you are doing, so that you can judge whether that is your intention or whether it's something that's happening by accident. For instance, I was switching viewpoints without necessarily intending to do so, or rather without being really aware of the impact that might have on the reader. Just thinking about this has been useful. I would recommend this course to others. A lot of the people on it go back term after term, you are therefore working with people who take it seriously and want to get the most out of the course.

I really enjoy the tutor's measured and precise commentary on our work. The class take turns to read work out loud, increasing our self-critical abilities, and then its onto a creative writing excerise over tea, plus more commentary. The other class participants are really supportive; some are new to the course, (like me), other are long-termers. Then it's off the the pub for chips and a round up of the week's litery gossip! Brilliant!
