The aim of this one-day course is to explore the genre of creative non-fiction and introduce the various kinds of non-fiction writing that this term covers. It will also have a practical writing element, with some short exercises done in the class which will receive feedback.

No special qualifications are required other than a good level of spoken and written English and an enthusiasm for
reading and writing.
Through presentation, tutor-led group discussion, and some short writing exercises done in class followed by feedback from the tutor and other members of the class.
The tutor
Nicholas Murray is an experienced author of fifteen books including biographies of Bruce Chatwin,
Matthew Arnold, Andrew Marvell, Aldous Huxley, and Franz Kafka, two novels, two collections of
poetry, two books about place and a book about the British Victorian travellers. His most recent book is about the British Poets of the First World War. He is a contributor to the new Arvon Book of Life-Writing and has lectured widely in the UK and abroad. He writes the Bibliophilic Blogger literary blog.
