Although the course details say you ought to have some experience of writing, this is very much a day for beginners. It is also a real 'whistle-stop tour', so go ready for some hard concentration! Character and plot development, and the differing styles for different age-groups are covered, plus tackling the all-important first paragraph. For me, the latter was the most illuminating and I wish we had had time to hear everyone's contribution. The tutor is excellent - very down-to-earth/realistic about the market and how to get into it, yet also very enthusiastic about her field.

Lots of useful information, lots of interaction, plenty of feedback, interesting writing exercises to unleash creativity.

I have written adult fiction and thought i'd have a go at children's stories. At first i thought i'd be no good, but by the end of the day i realised i had a good story to develop.
