A general guided study and introduction to the craft of various key directors such as Howard Hawks, Frank Capra, John Ford and others who created formulae so good that we continue to study them and repeat them. They were the confident authors (auteurs) of the classical period of cinema. Beginning with the early ‘silent’ cinema, we will watch and discuss key works from directors who were laying the foundations of the industry and the studio system in the only new art-form of he 20th century—the cinema.
