The course tutor had excellent knowledge and understanding of the industry and history of film. We watched excellent examples, and I genuinely have a better understanding now. Really enjoyed it!

Class layout was not well though out but Tutor was good. Tacky chairs and not arranged neatly. However course content was well though out and gets you thinking about how you watch and analyse films.

i am a budding film-maker yet needed knowledge as to how cinema has evolved into what we see today. The tutor was passionate yet gave a balanced view on critical appraisals given by critics over the years.
The course was broadly chronological. The fascination of how cinema came into being was met by the multifarious strands that grew into today's cinema, and all achieved through a mixture of excellent film excerpts, handouts and open questioning/group conversation.
I wasn't sure at the outset what this course was going to entail but I can say now that it was totally value for money. The course ended with an 'open mic' kinda setup where we can bring our own films that have influenced us, which was a real bonus.
This course is recommended by me bigtime!

Great selection of films from the last 80 years of so, by highly knowledgeable tutor - an extremely clear communicator. well structured course. some engaging discussions came out of our viewings.

The tutor guides you through the important happenings in film from early days to today.
He is patient and interesting and shows lots of film clips to demonstrate the various transitions.
There is always discussion after and all levels can join in..

If you love film but dont know about the influences this is for you. You will never see a film again in the same way.
Truly broadening.
