We explore in more detail the 'condition of Africa' in the post-colonial era. Using examples from around the continent, you can analyse the defective political contexts and infrastructure that have characterised the dynamics of change in post-independent Africa. N.B. What are the key issues in Africa today? The course explores the causes and possible ways forward for resolving Africas crises such as the wars in Ethiopia and Rwanda and the religious conflicts in Nigeria and Sudan.
The course will cover the history and relevance of African political movements, and the political and cultural link between the African continent and the Diaspora in shaping modern African society.
