An extremely knowledgeable lecturer using well-chosen and detailed slides is giving us some fascinating glimpses of life in the ancient world, and we are discovering how all the different cultures of the Near East, Greece and Etruria strongly influence each other. I have the urge now to see the ancient sites myself. Stimulating and involving classes.

This course was a brilliantly told story of the gradual development of Greek art, from the very ancient cultures influenced by Egypt, Palestine and Syria to the later classical periods. This course gives a clear view of both civilisation in terms of society and more aesthetic ideas of painting and sculpture.
