A Greek princess who lived in the Bronze Age. Said to be the daughter of a god whose beauty caused the Trojan War. Can we ever know the truth behind the myths? In the afternoon we visit the British Museum to view antiquities made in Greece at this time.

This is an `introductory` course and does not assume previous study or reading although you will need a good grasp of English to keep up with the course. As with most of our history and current affairs courses, an open mind and a willingness to listen to and think about differing views are more important than specific levels of skills.
Illustrated lectures, discussions, questions, reading and analysis of original texts (in translation), museum visit. Above all, looking informed by reading. Additional museum visits and reading outside the course will greatly enhance the experience.
