The tutor told us at the start that his aim was for us to be able to ring up a paper or interviewee and say 'I'm a freelance journalist' and pass the test of credibility. The course is a way of building chutzpah and it does deliver. The tutor's occasional grizzliness is illuminated by rays of humour. We all have to show our work to each other as well as to the tutor. An email list provides some fertile ground for exchange of ideas and support. It’s a clever technique and reduces our dependence on the tutor which is good in any adult education class.
