Course outline

What is the course about?

How to run effective journalistic interviews.

What topics will we cover?

Approaching people for interview
drafting and ordering questions
identifying different kinds of questions
conducting the interview
listening skills
interview etiquette
follow-up
using interview material.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

- identify strategies and interview techniques to help you find out what you need to know.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

No experience is necessary.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Class discussions, tutor presentations, practical sessions, pair work.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

None.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Feedback throughout the day.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?
