I learnt a lot from the course but the first thing I learnt was that I didn't want to be a journalist!
I also learnt useful writing skills and it was interesting to learnt a bit about tools and tricks of the trade.
It would have been more useful for me to have had more on features and blog writing as I was hoping it would help with my blog. For me it was too much about newspaper journalism.
Nevertheless, I'm happy I did the course overall.

I went on this course and I definitely found it useful.
[The tutor] is a "no nonsense" kind of character and she was able to quickly pass to us many of the tricks of the trade. She motivated the class to start writing and pitching to editors straight away!

A good introduction to different types of journalism and some of the issues that surround them, supported by useful practical exercises.

We were given exercises in class which had to be completed quickly and read out. I would have liked to have had more practice at these (new) skills before doing them to a time limit and audience. Also would have liked more background on the profession in general and on how papers and mags operate. I needed more info at the start to help me decide whether journalism was something I wanted to pursue. Can't fault teacher.

This really gave me what I wanted. Although I have worked as a journalist in the past, I had been out of the loop for a long time and this course really gave me the nuts and bolts. The more you put into it the more you'll get out of it.
