Course outline

What is the course about?

The background and development of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

What topics will we cover?

2012 Olympic sports, venues, architecture, legacy.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Name the main sports taking place at the three venues visited
Name the architects of two of the stadiums
Show you understand the overall layout of the Olympic Park.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

No specific skills needed – just a general interest in London and the ability to undertake a two hour walking tour taken at a moderate pace.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will visit Stratford to view the Olympic Park from the Greenway, and travel via tube and DLR to visit the EXCEL centre and the O2.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

No additional costs apart from a Zone 3 travel card or equivalent.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?
