Course outline

What is the course about?

This course will enable tou to develop your fluency, vocabulary and grammar in Catalan.

What topics will we cover?

Talking about future plans, understanding and expressing rules, talking about food and giving instructions about how to prepare it, describing people (body parts, personality, adjectives), looking for a job.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Talk about future plans
Express rules
Talk about food and describe how to elaborate dishes
Describe people: how they are and how they look like
Talk about the characteristics of jobs and workers.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You need to have studied Catalan for at least one year or done Catalan 2 module 1.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course is based on the communicative approach:

- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate

Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Tutor's own material. Book will be discussed at the beginning of the course.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
