This course aims to improve your fluency in reading Latin and help you gain a greater knowledge of grammatical structures.
We shall be using the textbook Reading Latin 2 vols, starting around Section 3 A, an adaptation of Plautus - check with the tutor through the Languages Department for the exact point to start at. Reading will be combined with grammar instruction and exercises on current grammatical points.
-be familiar with demonstratives
-be familiar with the comparison of adjectives
-demonstrate knowledge of the perfect of deponent verbs
-demonstrate knowledge of participles.
You should have studied Latin for one year and who have already completed Latin 2: Module 1 and Module 2, or have equivalent experience. As this course is taught in English, you should be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English and also take part in class and group discussions on readings. Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support with your English skills to help you take part fully in this class.
Whole class work and some group work. Translation, grammar instruction, grammatical exercises.
About 2 hours homework per week.
