The course aims to strengthen what students already know and to introduce new structures and vocabulary around new topics/situations. The emphasis is on speaking and listening.
Topics: health, talking about your job, physical descriptions, buying clothes and discussing past holidays.
Grammar: consolidation of the present, future and past tenses.

For students who have completed French fast-tack module 1and 2 or who have studied French recently for 1 year or have completed French 1: module 1, 2 and 3. For further details of the specific foreign language skills required for this level, please see the languages self-assessment chart, using the link at the top of this page. You can also find the chart at the start of the languages section in our course guide. You will also need to be able to understand basic spoken and written information in English (e.g. simple instructions, course documents) and be at ease with the use of numbers for daily activities (e.g. using money, telling the time etc).
Communicative method; pair and group work; role-play; audiocassettes and videos.
Some homework will be set every week.
Please note students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities.
Based on the course book The French Experience 1, (BBC) new edition 2003. You may want to buy the CDs with the book although this is not compulsory as the tutor will provide listening activities throughout the course.
