This course will enable you to improve your writing skills and become more confident in daily life situations when you have to write something in French, whether in a formal or informal way.
We will focus on real life situations like sending an email to a French friend, writing a thank you note, a letter of complaint, asking for information, etc
We may also venture onto more creative ground with a mixture of exercises and authentic documents aimed at recognising and interpreting difficult sounds in French and gradually knowing how to deal with spoken French in a situation.
- put sentences together in writing
- be able to make a request or express a feeling in written French
- have a knowledge of the specific formulation and vocabulary used in formal letters in French
- be aware of the differences between formal and informal registers in French.
Intermediate to upper intermediate students of French (at least 3 years of study or equivalent). Ideal for students working towards the DELF B2 or the French A-level or students enrolled in French 3 upper or 4 courses. For further details of the specific foreign language skills required for this level, please see the languages self-assessment chart, using the link at the top of this page. You can also find the chart at the start of the languages section in our course guide. You will also need to be able to understand basic spoken and written information in English (e.g. simple instructions, course documents) and be at ease with the use of numbers for daily activities (e.g. using money, telling the time etc).
With a series of lively exercises using the communicative approach, visuals, pair work etc.
Please note students are expected to participate actively in the activities.
All the material for the course will be provided by the tutor.
