This course is for classical guitarists who want to broaden their musical knowledge and skills by playing with other musicians and to enjoy making music with others in a relaxed, friendly environment. The course is suitable for students who have completed the Classical guitar levels 1 or 2 or for players who can read notation comfortably in 1st position. There will be a public performance at the end of the course.

Practise and play effectively in a classical guitar ensemble from notation. Develop listening skills in regard to other ensemble members.
We will cover simple warm up exercises and a number of ensemble pieces to be performed to an audience on the last day that will include aspects of musicality like forte and piano, ritardando, accelerando, changes of tone,.
- Play a number of pieces to a performance standard with other guitarists with accurate rhythms and musicality.
- Listen and respond to the other musicians performing with you.
In order to get the most from the course you should have completed Spanish/classical guitar level 1 or 2, or be at an equivalent standard. You need to be able to read from notation at least up to the fifth fret, and to do so with a reasonable fluency. You should have a basic grasp of guitar playing techniques including melody playing and chord playing. You will need to follow written and verbal instructions in English and engage in class discussions.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Informal verbal feedback by the tutor takes place over the course and you will perform the pieces learned to an audience on the last day of the course.
