- Playing technique: left and right hand
- Reading the bass clef
- Practice scales, triads, and other patterns, and use these to create interesting basslines, and to improvise
- Improve your sense of pulse and keep good time e.g. playing with a click, or cd backing
- Play music in various styles: swing jazz, blues, rock, funk.
- Enhance your understanding of bass playing
- Build confidence about how and what to play
- Shape a practice routine
- Improve your technique
- Meet other bass players.
For players with at least a basic understanding of the instrument, technically and musically. This would include the ability to play scale and triad patterns, play along with simple chord sequences, and read music.
You will need to follow written and verbal instructions in English and engage in class discussions.
Class will be taught as a group: tutor demonstration, discussion, playing together and individually. Some amplification supplied. Practice between classes will be essential to your progress.
