Develop playing skills acquired in level 1. Our focus will be to build a technical skillbase and develop stylistic authenticity when playing a range of contemporary grooves.
- the establishment of a good practice routine
- intermediate level coordinated independence
- fluency of mobility around the kit
- study of contemporary styles, and classic grooves
- rock, funk, latin & jazz styles
- analysis of predominant drummers
- practice at reading music for drums.
- develop and sustain a sound practice routine away from class
- enjoy improved stick control and rudimental technique and apply this to the drumset
- play different styles with the correct 'feel'
- have developed 4-way coordination for drums.
For players who have successfully completed Drumming level 1, and others who have an equivalent level of competence (to be demonstrated at audition).
You will need to follow written and verbal instructions in English and engage in class discussions.
Learning as a group, using 1 or 2 kits and practice pads; tutor demonstrations; listen to and discuss recorded samples; playing together, and solo; learning grooves by ear and from notation; as much individual tuition as numbers allow. Mostly we will play as an ensemble, sometimes for a sustained period. E-learning available.
Bring your own sticks, a notebook, and a machine to record parts of your class.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Continuous informal verbal assessment by your tutor. Short tutorial each term.
