To enable students to play a variety of songs and basic scales and to develop chord construction, smooth changes and rhythmic ability.
- students will be taught to play and develop a repertoire of songs in styles such as blues, pop, folk and Latin.
- students can also expect to receive guidance on song structure and arrangement.
- musicianship relevant to pop songs and the acoustic guitar.
- play in a wide range of keys
- play chords up to the 7th with some extensions
- play basic scales in transposable form
- have learned a repertoire of songs
- be confident about tackling new music
- be more self-sufficient/independent.
Students should have completed level one or have equivalent experience, at least a year of guitar study: hand shapes for the most used chords e.g. E, Em, G, C, A7, Am7, etc., simple bar chords, basic strumming and picking, etc.
You will need to follow written and verbal instructions in English and engage in class discussions.
Playing together, tutor demonstration and instruction, practising songs, warm-ups and ensemble playing.
Practice between classes will be essential if you are to keep abreast of the course and derive full benefit.
Music materials will be supplied by the tutor. You will bring your own acoustic instrument and a folder for your music sheets and handouts.
You may record parts of class if you wish.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Continuous assessment by the tutor during the class.
