You will broaden your knowledge of piano repertoire, explore in greater depth different styles and genres and increase your understanding of interpretive skills.
- A wide repertoire within the broad range of a particular classical style
- Variety of genres and their development through different classical styles.
- Improve knowledge and awareness of repertoire including styles from the Renaissance period to contemporary styles as agreed by tutor and students in a workshop environment.
- Learn and develop technical skills
- Learn and develop interpretive skills
- Improve your awareness and skills in memorisation
- Gain further insight in how to practice the piano
- Improve one's understanding of musical forms and structures
- Develop performance skills with opportunities of informal concerts.
You will need a minimum standard Grade 8. You will need to follow written and verbal instructions in English and engage in class discussions.
Masterclass: each student plays and has individual coaching. You will benefit from listening and hearing advice and demonstration.

Yes. Before you can enrol on this course, you need to have an advisory interview with the relevant department. Without this the enrolment team will be unable to process your enrolment. Please contact the department to arrange your interview, or to find out about drop-in sessions.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Continuous verbal tutor assessment and informal concert at end of each term.
