Acquire a deeper understanding of the stylistic interpretation of a wide repertoire. Emphasis will be placed on improving technique, tone production, pedalling technique and a rhythm/pulse co-ordination.
Two or three composers will be selected per term.
- Show an improved stylistic awareness
- Demonstrate developed fluency of rhythm and pulse co-ordination
- Demonstrate your technique further to enable to co-op with more advanced repertoire
- Demonstrate an improved tone quality
- Display a subtle pedalling technique
- Make independent decisions in regards to pedalling, ornaments and articulation
- Produce layered texture of 2-3 voices.
You will have a minimum standard of grade 7 - 8 or equivalent. You will need to follow written and verbal instructions in English and engage in class discussions.
Each member will be individually taught. Involvement in the class through attentive listening to other members performances and trying out illustrated points. Students are expected to practice at least 1 hour a day.
Approximately £15 per term for music being studied. It is often possible to borrow from libraries.
Yes. Before you can enrol on this course, you need to have an advisory interview with the relevant department. Without this the enrolment team will be unable to process your enrolment. Please contact the department to arrange your interview, or to find out about drop-in sessions.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Students will be encouraged to take notes.
