This course will help to develop skills essential for independent learning in the piano workshop class. It will help you to develop fluency and quality of your playing.
• Technical work: finger technique, wrist and finger co-ordination
• Structure of phrases and simple structures in pieces
•Sight-reading
• Development of dynamic range
• Development of better co-ordination between hands.
• Structure your practice better
• Develop critical listening skills
• Develop strategies for technical practice
• Develop understanding for better musical structures.
This is course is for pianists who have had 2 to 3 years of tuition. You will need to follow written and verbal instructions in English and engage in class discussions.
You will be taught individually and in the group.
You will need to either buy or take necessary book out of the library. You will need to have a piano (acoustic or digital) to practice on.
Yes. Before you can enrol on this course, you need to have an advisory interview with the relevant department. Without this the enrolment team will be unable to process your enrolment. Please contact the department to arrange your interview, or to find out about drop-in sessions.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. End of term informal concert. Continual informal verbal feedback by tutor. Peer assessment.
