The course aims to develop treble recorder technique for those who already have a basic working knowledge of the instrument. This takes place in a friendly group environment.
You will practise playing and extend the range of notes on the treble recorder, and how to produce a clear, full sound, with 'clean' tongue technique and finger co-ordination. We will explore an eclectic range of solo and ensemble recorder repertoire.
- Be comfortable playing the full range of notes on the treble recorder
- Make a clear, full sound and play with clean 'tongue' technique and finger co-ordination
- have covered a range of solo and ensemble recorder repertoire.
The course is aimed at those who already play the treble recorder but who are interested in exploring new repertoire and further advancing their technique. You will need to follow written and verbal instructions in English and engage in class discussions.
You will be taught in a group with the opportunity to play alone and with the rest of the group. Regular practice outside class is expected.
You will need to bring your recorder. The tutor will advise students on appropriate books to purchase at the start of the course.
Yes. Before you can enrol on this course, you need to have an advisory interview with the relevant department. Without this the enrolment team will be unable to process your enrolment. Please contact the department to arrange your interview, or to find out about drop-in sessions. You will be required to bring a piece and your own instrument to an advice session.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
