To introduce you to the operatic repertoire and the vocal skills and knowledge necessary to perform successfully.
vocal coaching and guidance on technique with reference to the operatic repertoire
guidance on suitable repertoire for either auditions or productions
performance technique and the art of communicating with an audience in the dramatic context
the classification of voice types in opera.

have an enthusiasm for the art of singing and the discipline that it entails.
You need to have had at least 4 years vocal tuition or be at City Lit Intermediate and above, workshop levels.
You will need to be able to read music fluently or have the ability to learn repertoire quickly and arrive at the first session with at least one piece already prepared.

PREPARATION AND PRACTICE DURING THE WEEK IS ESSENTIAL.
Copies of music to be studied during the course. Scores can often be borrowed from the City Lit learning centre on the mezzanine or local libraries.
Yes. Before you can enrol on this course, you need to have an advisory interview with the relevant department. Without this the enrolment team will be unable to process your enrolment. Please contact the department to arrange your interview, or to find out about drop-in sessions.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
