This is an introduction to the basics of vocal technique, the aim being to increase your awareness of how to sing in a healthy and enjoyable way.
Basic vocal technique including posture
Efficient breathing techniques
Rounds and part singing
Musicianship exercises to develop aural skills
Physical exercises to encourage a sense of rhythm.
Understand how the voice works at a rudimentary level
Use your body rhythmically
Understand the importance of posture in singing
Have some understanding of efficient and effective breathing
Be more confident to sing.
It is a complete beginners course; however, students must be able to pitch notes from both the piano and the voice, in order to cope in the class situation.
You will need to follow written and verbal instructions in English and engage in class discussions.
There will be time for vocal warm ups and most of the work will be as a group.
You are expected to practise for a minimum of 15 minutes daily.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. You will be advised on progression. There my be an end of course concert from which you will get further feedback.
