This is an introduction to the basics of vocal technique, and rhythmic and aural awareness, to help acquire skills in a healthy and enjoyable way.
Basic vocal technique, including posture and body awareness
Efficient breathing techniques
Pitching accuracy which may include rounds and part singing
Exercises to encourage a sense of rhythm
Musicianship exercises to develop aural skills.
Show an understanding of how the voice works at a rudimentary level
Demonstrate a rhythmic awareness, physically and musically
Demonstrate good posture for singing
Sing songs and sustain a harmony line
Feel more confident about singing and using your voice generally.
Absolute beginners - for anyone not confident in singing, however you must, on hearing notes from the piano and voice, be able to sing them back at the correct pitch. If you are not sure about your ability to do this, then please come in to one of our advice sessions before enrolling.

Songs chosen will be in a mixture of styles and may be in a variety of languages
You are encouraged to practise for a minimum of 15 mins daily.
Music will be provided at the beginning of the course, but students may be expected to provide their own sheet music later on. Please bring a notebook, pen/pencil and a folder for keeping music etc.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

The possibilites are a Find your voice, Basic Technique for Solo Singing or one of the popular music singing classes. You may also wish to go on to a choral singing class.
