Lightroom is a programme for storing, cataloguing, keywording, adjusting and outputting your digital photographs - RAW, tiff and jpegs. On this course you will learn how to effectively manage, edit and showcase your photographs in this uncluttered, intuitive package. Learn how Lightroom helps you to work efficiently with one image, an entire shoot, or a large image library. On this course you will gain an understanding of the relative merits of Lightroom over other applications such as Photoshop and Bridge.
- Importing images
- Cataloguing including collections, rating, metadata and keywording.
- Processing including retouching, colour temperature, tone curves, black and white, split toning, sharpening etc.
- Exporting images including slideshows, prints and web galleries.
You will be supplied with images but ideally you will bring your own images, in a digital format, to work with.
- Create catalogues and collections of your images
- Keyword, rate and select your images
- Edit images for colour and tonality, retouch minor blemishes and sharpen
- Create a slide show and web gallery
- Print images singly and in layouts.
The course is for beginners to Lightroom but it would be useful to have a basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. You should have experience of working on a computer. If you are an experienced PC user and are new to Macs you can gain confidence in working on a Mac from our ‘Using Apple Mac computers: for experienced PC users’ course.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.
