Creating high quality, effective images of your work is invaluable in selling work, gaining commissions and publicising yourself as an artist.
This is a practical course for craftspeople and artists who want to develop practical skill and knowledge in photographing their work, or to commission photography.
Technical aspects of photographing artworks to a high standard, including composition, lighting, the importance of depth of field/ aperture and exposure.
- photograph a variety of art and craft works
- know what makes a good photograph
- demonstrate strength in composition of objects.
This course is for beginners, but those with some experience of photography not in this specialist area can also benefit. The course starts with a technical section and handouts, so no prior knowledge is necessary. You will learn by practice as you go along.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.
You will be taught through lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises and projects, individual assistance and notes.
You might need to buy and pay for the processing and printing of around four films or digital equivalent.
No.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
