This course is for photographers who wish to develop their work through an understanding of the key issues behind contemporary landscape photography, including aesthetics, technique and meaning. You will look at ways to apply this understanding to your own work. The course also addresses practical ways to develop your personal practice and how to design design a relevant photography project.
A full scheme of work will be given out at the first session.
- Introduction to cutting edge landscape photography
- Decoding of contemporary landscape photography into its elements
- The contemporary landscape market and marketing issues
- Develop an understanding of your relationship to aesthetics, technique and your personal work.
- Practical and theory issues to help progress your folio.
- How to design a relevant photography project.
- Understand the three key issues within contemporary landscape photography
- Begin a personal relationship with these three key issues
- Sate three ways to develop your personal photography practice
- State three different types of market relevant to art photography
- Understand at least three different photography techniques that can improve your work.
A working knowledge of the basic manual camera functions will be needed.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
Please look at the rest of the course outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support in your English and Maths skills to help you to take part fully in this class.
You will be taught with a structured programme of tutorials, practical tasks, demonstrations, discussions, and guidance notes. Relevant course work will be set to assist learners to develop their practice between classes. There will be a location practical.
Bring in some examples of your work on the first week. A small ideas book is recommended.
