This course helps you explore the world of pinhole photography, to learn about the history of the subject and develop practical techniques which will give you unique photographs using almost no modern technology. Meeting like-minded participants, and discussing the subject in breadth and depth, is an essential aspect of this course.
The history of pinhole photography and image formation
Contemporary work by photographers using pinhole cameras
How to make your own cameras, and the variety of pinhole cameras available to buy.
Traditional and digital methods of recording the pinhole image.
Practical sessions enabling you to make your own pinhole photographs.
Creative possibilities for pinhole photography.
Ideas for exhibiting your images or publishing them on the web.
- Know how pinhole photography works
- Have made or acquired your own pinhole camera and used it to make a permanent pinhole photograph
- Talk about a wide variety of work related to pinhole photography.
Suitable for beginners with no practical experience. It may also be of interest to photographers who want to explore a very different method of creating photographs.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
