The course is about having fun with numbers and learning how numbers work in terms of money, measure and data as well as learning about shapes and positions.
You can achieve a qulaification in Personal Progress (Entry 1) consisting of the following units:
2010-11: Numbers; Shape; Position; Measurement
2011-12: Money; Data.
2010-11: Count in whole numbers; demonstrate an awareness of position; demonstrate an awareness of shape; demonstrate an awareness of common measures
2011-12: Recognise aspects of a sequence; engage in sorting data by a single criterion; identfiy money from other items; identify uses for money; use money in realistic situations.
The course is for students with learning difficulties who are at 'later stages' of Entry 1. You need to be able to do most of the following: take turns to speak; concentrate for short periods of time; join in pair/group activities; have understandable speech or alternative ways of communicating; say or write the numbers 1 to 10.

It is advisable to bring a folder and is essential to bring writing marerials such as pen and paper.
Yes. Before you can enrol on this course, you need to have an advisory interview with the relevant department. Without this the enrolment team will be unable to process your enrolment. Please contact the department to arrange your interview, or to find out about drop-in sessions.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Feedback from the tutor. Self assessment, supported by the tutor. Termly tutor reports. We will assess individual planned learning outcomes, and your personal goals, on Statements of Learning throughout the course.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses. Student feedback is encouraged throughout the course. All students have a personal tutor to whom they can give feedback about their course. There will be an opportunity to evaluate your course at the end.
