Counsellors working with clients who have suffered abuse or interpersonal trauma are at risk of devleoping Secondary Traumatic Stress(STS) or vicarious traumatisaiton. This workshop looks at the nature of these impacts and how to minimise these effects. The emphasis will be on the importance of self care to avoid 'burn out' and 'compassion fatigue' and how to become a more self aware and present in your professional work.

Those working in the helping and personal professions such as therapists and counsellors will benfit the most from this course.
You will need to be able to interact within the group and to take part in group discussions.
The course will be devivered with a combination of small group work, lecture and experiential work.
There is no set work outside of the course yet it is expected that you take your experience forward to support your proofessional work.
