Find out about the origins and manifestations of anxiety through experiential work, discussion and theoretical input. This includes psychodynamic, existential and humanistic approaches. Ways of understanding and managing anxiety will be examined. This course is aimed at counsellors, other helping professionals and trainees. It is not aimed at people seeking help for the specific course subjects.

To gain greater awareness of the origins, experience and behaviours of anxiety.
We will also examine ways of dealing with, coping with, and containining anxiety.
Working with our anxieties can lead to personal enrichment.
What is anxiety?
Different types of anxiety ( this will relate to Freud, Klien,Rollo May and existential thinkers.)

Ways of dealing with anxiety ( Klien, Rollo May, Victor Frankl and others)
Enrichment and self-actualisation.
Have a greater awareness of psychological processes and mechanisms
Have a greater understanding of the origins and manifestations of anxiety
Gain an increased capacity to contain and cope with anxiety
Know some of the psychological theories
Have insight into our inner world and the subtle process of change.
Prior knowledge maight have been gained through your professional practice and perhaps personal experience.
You will need an interest in psychic processes and the potential enrichment of exploration.
An openness to explore and exchange ideas is an imprtant aspect of the course.
Presentaiton and discussion of relevant theory.
Experiential pair and group work.
Stories and poetry will help the group to get closer fo the subject.
There are no extra costs. You might like to bring a notebook and pen to the session.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
