What is the nature of domestic violence? It can include physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse. The first half of this course will explore the definition of domestic violence and why people might stay in abusive relationships. The second half will discuss the legal remedies available to victims of domestic violence. This course is aimed at counsellors, other helping professionals and trainees. It is not aimed at people seeking help for the specific course subjects.

Learn about practical and legal remedies available for victims of domestic violence.
The course is suitable for anyone who may work or be involved with victims of domestic violence. No previous experience/knowledge required. Difficult issues will be discussed in an eduacitonal setting.
Learning will be facilitated by teaching input, discussion, reflection, small and large group work. Students will be expected to participate in class activities.
Students do not need to bring any materials to this class. The tutor will provide all necessary handouts and other materials.
