The workshop will increase your knowledge of common mental illnesses and treatment options. It aims to enhance your confidence in working with clients who have been diagnosed and labelled.
The diagnostic framework.
Ways of working with clients who have a mental illness.
The different therapeutic philosophies of psychiatry and counselling and their implications for referral.
Risk assessment.
Treatment options, including ECT and medication.
Have a greater understanding of serious mental illness.
Increase your knowledge of the diagnostic framework.
Apreciate psychiatric and other options available in the treatment of mental illness.
Feel more confident in assessing risk and working with mentally ill clients.
Have improved ability to make referrals and talk to other professionals about assessment.
