Course outline

What is the course about?

Often, people are confused about what psychologists and counsellors do, what the difference is between them and how to qualify in these fields. This workshop will clarify job opportunities and progression routes in training.

Job opportunities
Training routes
Session 1 (run by Ana Lewin) will focus on Psychology
Session 2 (run by Janet Hermann) will focus on Counselling.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

An understanding of the settings in which counsellors & psychologists work and of opportunities in each field
An understanding of what sound professional training entails
A clearer basis on which to make a decision about your next step.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Introductory.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Tutor input, experiental exercises, discussion, questions and answers.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

No.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.

You may wish to pursue cournselling training from Level 1 (introductory) to level 3 (practitioner).
