Course outline

What is the course about?

Join this session to explore the amazing power of the mind and how visualisation can be used as a tool to create thoughts and feelings that are truly beautiful and sustaining.

What topics will we cover?

How you can use visualisation as a tool to access the untapped potential of your mind.
Explore how your subconscious can be used to guide you towards a more rewarding life.
How to use the power of imagination to re-awaken delight and wonder in your life.
Discover new ways of bringing greater calmness and lightness to your everyday activates.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Explain how thinking is integral to the way we feel about ourselves and about others.
Access a deeper level of self-awareness and begin to use the mind more constructively.
Use your thoughts to create and sustain positive feelings and attitudes.
Use visualisation as a tool to help sustain greater confidence in everyday situations.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

No previous knowledge is required, however you need to be willing to participate in individual reflection, visualisation techniques and group discussions and activity. You will need a fluent level of spoken and written English.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

This course will include personal reflection, using different visualisation techniques, individual and group mind exercises as well as the input and experience of the tutor. In order to gain maximum benefit from the course it will be beneficial to read the handouts after the course.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Please bring a note-book and pen with you. A variety of reading ideas will be suggested by the tutor.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Throughout the day you might experience an increased understanding of how your mind works and the ability to visualise different states of awareness using visualisation as a tool. However the long-term results will not necessarily show until situations arise in your life and you see a difference in how you respond. Feedback from the tutor will be given during the day.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.

How do I find out if I can get some support for my learning?

You may be interested in: education and careers advice; financial and childcare support; disability support; support for Deaf and hearing-impaired students; dyslexia support; English and maths support; counselling, and library services (supported learning centre). To find out what may be available to you, and how to apply, see page 213 of the 11/12 course guide, or visit www.citylit.ac.uk/students

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

This course complements any personal development course.
