Course outline

What is the course about?

Improving romantic relationships.

What topics will we cover?

Within the context of all different types of romantic relationships (for example, straight or LGBT) we will explore the following topics:
Communication,
Needs and values,
Dynamics,
Cultural differences.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Describe a range of communication skills within a relationship
Identify the different stages in a couple relationship
Outline your own (and if relevant, your partner's) needs and values within a relationship,
Explain why you may be attracted to, and may attract, certain types of people.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

No particular skills required.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Two tutors will jointly facilitate this course. There will be no work outside the class, although further reading and reflections will be suggested.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You only need to bring a pen and notebook/paper.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
