Course outline

What is the course about?

This day explores the anthropological and historical background of traditional shamanism and how we can work with this oldest spiritual life way today.
The course is presented by a facilitator who is a shamanic Counsellor, Art Therapist, Creativity Coach and Artist.

What topics will we cover?

Shamanic principles such as:
- concept of spirit world and spirit helpers
- shamanic understanding of power
- soul retrival and shamanic healing
- the shamanic journey
- the shamanic cosmology
- the concept of illlness and health in the shamanic world view
- the role of arts in shamanic practice
- Core-shamanic practice of shamanism in the western world.

By the end of this course you should be able to:


- know the core priciples of shamanism

- understand the culture and background of shamanism

- relate any knowledge of shaminism and apply apropriately in professional health practice.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is for learning and self-development, it is not a therapy course.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course will include tutor talk, visual presentations, case material and an opportunity to participate in a shamanic journey (as well as the possibility to opt out of this). Handouts will also be used.
You are encouraged to continue finding out more about the subject if you feel motivated to do so.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

None. It is useful to bring notepad and pen to take notes.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
