The course is about you; your hopes and dreams and your inner world. It is about your creativity and it is about your emotional growth. It is about expressing yourself, keeping track of your development in life and it is a tool with which you can settle old scores and heal old wounds.
The course will cover many aspects of journal writing, including lists, word portraits, map of consciousness, guided imagery, altered point of view, unsent letters and dialogue. It will enable you to go back in time and forward in time.
Identify ways of using a journal to expand your creativity and emotional growth.
Apply 3 techniques (associated with journal writing) to help resolve inner conflict.
Reflect on how journal writing can expand your capacity for self expression.
The course is designed to include all levels of ability and the techniques are devised to develop your ease with the written word. It is not about grammar or spelling. It is about enabling you to get to know the most interesting person you will ever meet - yourself!
There will be discussion, small group and pair work; relaxation, visualisation, brainstorming, the use of objects and pictures and perhaps some drama (if participants are willing) to access feelings and memories to instigate change.
You will need to bring your own pens and crayons, your own learning journal, a special photograph of yourself or of a place or of another person.
No.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. You will devise your own criteria and can share this with others if you wish. You can expect your tutor to give you feedback both individually and through group discussion. At the end of the course you will be given the opportunity to complete a record of your achievements which will be verified by your tutor.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
