We explore the wisdom and psychology inherent in age-old stories and the help they can be in understanding the events in our lives.
The course will look at a fairytale and a Greek myth cycle. It will also cover some basic psychology of the unconscious which will aid the interpretation process.
Know the importance of myths and fairytales in our lives.
Have knowledge of a Greek myth and fairytale cycle.
Know the basis of how psychology of the unconscious aids interpretation.
Open to anyone with an interest in how personal development can be supported by the understanding of myths and fairytales. In order to get the most from the course you need to be able to read the course material, listen and participate in the discussion.
Through teacher input in seminar style.
Handouts of the stories together with psychological terms to aid the interpretation process.
Discussion of the key points.
There is not any work outside of the course. It is hoped you will be motivated to read more on the topic in your own time.
Any book by Marie-Louise Von Franz on the interpretation of fairytales will be helpful but not essential. You will find it useful to bring a notebook and pen to the session.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
