To gain a greater awareness of the narcissistic personality, structure and the possibility of change. Also to explore the journey in finding the true self.
Narcissism and the narcissistic personality structure (Freud, Rosenfeld, Otto Kernberg and Alice Miller).
Depression, addiction, shame and destructiveness.
The grandiose self and omnipotence.
Change and authenticity (the true self).
Greater awareness of psychological mechanisms and processes.
Greater sensitivity to the struggle to find the true self.
Greater understanding of our inner world and the subtle process of change.
Greater understanding of psychoanalytic theory.
No prior knowledge is expected, but an interest in psychic processes and how change can be achieved. An openness to explore is an important factor.
Presentation and discussion of relevant theory, pair and group work. Stories and poetry will help us get closer to the subject.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. You will have the opportunity to reflect on your learning at the end of the course and to identify future learning goals.
