What is the course about?

The course explores the benefits of play and strategies for making play fun and stimulating for both children and parents.

What topics will we cover?

The workshop will explore:
The benefits of play
The different types of play
The benefits of play for the adult-child relationship
Suggestions and strategies for making play fun and stimulating for both children and parents/carers.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Outline the intellectual and social benefits of play
Access resources that maximise the benefits of play
Plan a range of activities for you and your child.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This workshop assumes no particular skills other than an active interest.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The workshop will include a mini-lecture as well as class and group discussions and activities.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

None. Some books and web resources will be recommended.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
