In this one day workshop you will learn a range of techniques to develop your ability to think creatively and generate new ideas.
The workshop will cover four elements critical to creative thinking: curiosity, openness, risk-taking and energy and will examine how these can be developed. You will also learn about the role of the unconscious mind for creativity and some basic information about how the brain works.
Identify some of the factors that facilitate creative thinking.
Describe some of the basic functioning of the brain and the different characteristics of the right and left brain.
Know how to utilise your unconscious mind to get ideas.
Use some creative thinking techniques.
The course is at the introductory level and so you do not need any prior knowledge of creative or lateral thinking, just a curiosity about it and a willingness to try things out. To benefit from this course you need to have a good level of spoken English. If you are unsure, please see an advisor.
The course is highly participative and interactive and will involve lots of exercises in pairs and small groups as well as class discussions. There may also be some short video presentations. You will receive lots of handouts, some of which are to be read after the workshop.
There will be no additional costs. The course fee will cover a number of specially-produced handouts.
No.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. You can expect your tutor to give you feedback both individually and through group discussion. At the end of the course you will be given the opportunity to complete a record of your achievements which will be verified by your tutor.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses. You will be asked to complete a course evaluation form at the end of the course. Your views are essential to planning future courses.
