Course outline

What is the course about?

Experience and understand how you can use the 4,000 year old structure of the Native American Medicine Wheel to:
help you recognise your inner strengths and the wisdom that comes from your own life journey;
adapt to changes that are happening with creativity and resourcefulness
make wise choices and actions with a positive sense of vision for your life ahead.

People from all backgrounds and all stages of personal growth are welcome.

What topics will we cover?

We will use the medicine wheel to help you to:
recognise your vision and values,
get motivated to make positive change happen,
overcome obstacles and creatively work with challenges,
identify and build on your strengths and support networks,
see “weaknesses” and “mistakes” as great opportunities to learn and grow!
Develop the confidence to share the wisdom gained from your own life experience.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Explain what the medicine wheel is and how it can be applied
Use the medicine wheel to guide your life choices with intuition, integrity and creativity
Apply the wisdom of the medicine wheel to help you through changes and challenges in your life.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Introductory: no previous knowledge required.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course will be taught with a combination of group work, pair work and space for personal reflection. Please come with a willingness to engage in practical exercises, shared group learning, and self-exploration - you will not be lectured at!

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

None. There are areas of knowledge you might like to research after the course. Your tutor will be able to advise you.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. In addition to tutor and peer feedback, you will also be reflecting on and identifying how you can integrate this new way of working within your existing your own skills and knowledge framework. The tutor will give constructive feedback to individuals and the group as a whole, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
