Speech therapy at City Lit has specialised in work with adults who stammer for over 40 years and is viewed as a UK national and international centre of excellence. A team of highly experienced specialist speech and language therapists teach a broad range for adults who stammer, including day-time intensive courses, evening courses and short workshops, as well as a well -developed follow-up programme to provide ongoing support. The team also offer professional training courses for qualified speech and language therapists.
Speech Therapy at City Lit was awarded the
Queen's Anniversary Prize in 2007 in recognition of their innovative and ground-breaking work. The department has also won the national Opening Doors to Adult Learners Award 2008, promoted by NIACE (the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education).
