Training for speech and language therapists

We offer a range of professional training courses for qualified speech and language therapists. Our specialism is in the adult dysfluency field and we offer two courses relevant to this client group.

'Working with adults who stammer'.
What our students say:
‘I now have increased knowledge and confidence to be able to start offering therapy for adults who stammer, with a structure and stages to work through with options along the way, to respond to client need.’
‘I now have greater confidence in carrying out therapy sessions.’

Supporting stories of change: using narrative ideas and practices in stammering therapy

An introduction to the theory underpinning narrative ways of working. You will learn about key narrative ideas and practices including externalising, re-authoring, listening for alternative storylines and developing skills in narrative questioning. The application to stammering therapy will be explored.

Acceptance and commitment therapy for speech and language therapists

The two major goals of ACT are acceptance of experience which is out of personal control and taking committed action towards living a valued life. On this workshop you'll learn how this is achieved and ACT's relevance to speech and language therapy.

Effective counselling skills for speech and language therapists
What our students say:
‘The course has been more than useful – I think that counselling skills are fundamental to all speech and language therapists and will be recommending this course to my line manager so that others on my team can experience it as well.’

Mindfulness meditation for speech and language therapists
What our student say:
‘I liked all of the course – I feel that this may well change many things in my life as it provides me with a new way to respond.’
‘This course gave me a greater appreciation of the richness of life and a greater curiosity and enthusiasm about the paths ahead and options available to me both personally and professionally.’
'This course gave me greater self awareness and increased confidence and bravery in facing/dealing with/managing unpleasant experiences and feelings.  I learnt how to do the practice and how to apply it to personal and professional life.’
