She has trained to teach mindfulness meditation and is currently attending a masters degree course in teaching mindfulness-based approaches. She is an experienced supervisor of qualified speech and language therapists and has co-run many post-graduate training courses for therapists. Carolyn was a founder member of the British Stammering Association and was one of its early advisors. She supports a holistic approach to therapy, is now a qualified counsellor and draws on these skills to work more effectively with clients' thoughts, feelings and beliefs. Jan has written numerous articles about stammering and been a speaker at the American Speech-Language Hearing Association conference and the Oxford Dysfluency Conference.
Jan is very supportive of the role of the stammering self-help movement and has been closely involved with the British Stammering Association, acting as a speech therapy advisor since 1997. Jan is currently undertaking a Diploma in Narrative Therapy.

Rachel Everard BA (Hons) MSc Reg MRCSLT
Rachel has stammered herself since a very early age and originally came to City Lit as a client in the early 1990s. Her experience of therapy and meeting other people who stammer was a turning-point in her life ? she decided to change career and train as a speech and language therapist, she became involved in the British Stammering Association and her personal identity changed as she began to accept herself as somebody who stammers.

She strongly believes in empowering people who stammer and in the benefits of group therapy. Prior to joining the City Lit speech therapy team in 2001, Rachel worked as a speech and language therapist with children with a range of communication difficulties in community clinics, mainstream primary schools and at the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children.
From 1999 to 2005 she was Chair of the British Stammering Association and is currently Treasurer of the National Special Interest in Disorders of Fluency.

Jenny Yeatman BA PGCE RegMRCSLT
Jenny has practised as a speech and language therapist for over 30 years. She has worked with people who stammer, of all ages, throughout her career. She is a member of the British Stammering Association and currently on the committee of the South East and London Stammering Special Interest Group. She has become increasingly concerned with alleviation of stammering through early intervention, and is currently using the Lidcombe programme from Australia with young children, while working concurrently for the National Health Service. Her other main clinical interest is in people with voice disorders who she currently sees for therapy in a hospital. She has in the past worked with a range of other communication difficulties such as those arising from hearing impairment and stroke.
